Point of Sale (POS) Systems for Organisations in the UAE. The following content explains when the subject is relevant, what information is needed, and how the discussion moves to a practical next step.
A point-of-sale system is the selling screen at the outlet: fast entry by keyboard, touch, or barcode, multiple payment methods, a VAT-compliant invoice, permission-controlled returns and discounts, shift close with cash reconciliation, and temporary offline operation followed by synchronisation with inventory and accounting.
Overview
A clear explanation of the service and how it supports your team.
We work through point-of-sale requirements for branches and outlets: a fast sales screen driven by keyboard or touch, barcode scanning, multiple payment methods including cards and wallets, a VAT-compliant invoice, permission-controlled returns and discounts, shift close with cash reconciliation, and temporary offline operation followed by synchronisation. Outlets are linked to central inventory and to accounting.

Digital Solutions
Service definition
What this service means in practice, before talking about deliverables.
A POS system is judged on three practical criteria: transaction speed at peak time, its behaviour when the network drops, and the accuracy of shift close. Systems that succeed in a demo and fail in the queue fail one of those three — usually the second.
Who this service is for
The organisations and teams that benefit from it directly.
- Retail outlets with high traffic at peak times.
- Restaurants and cafés needing order handling and kitchen printing.
- Organisations selling across multiple branches from central stock.
- Entities selling services or tickets at reception points.
Business Challenges
The real operational problems this service addresses.
Selling stopping entirely when the internet drops.
A slow screen lengthening the queue at peak time.
Discounts and returns without permission, used without control.
Shift close not matching actual cash, with no known cause.
Stock not moving with the sale, so the branch sells what it does not have.
The invoice missing the information required for tax purposes.
Scope
What the engagement explicitly covers.
- A fast selling screen operable by keyboard, touch, and barcode.
- Items, prices, and quick-sale lists.
- Payment methods: cash, cards, wallets, and split payment.
- Invoicing to VAT requirements, with printing.
- Returns, exchanges, and voids with permission and a reason.
- Discount types and the authority limits for granting them.
- Shifts, cash drawer, and cash reconciliation at close.
- Temporary offline operation and synchronisation on reconnect.
- Integration with inventory and accounting, and sales reports by outlet and cashier.
MHE Approach
How we coordinate the work to reach the intended outcome.
- 1
Assess the current state at the outlet: peak time, transaction volume, and network behaviour.
- 2
Analyse requirements: payment methods, return types, discounts, and shifts.
- 3
Design the selling screen around the fastest path for the most frequent transaction.
- 4
Configure or develop with specific permissions for discount, return, and void.
- 5
Integrate with central inventory, accounting, and the payment gateway.
- 6
Migrate items and prices with verification of barcodes and availability.
- 7
Train cashiers and supervisors on normal and exceptional handling and on shift close.
- 8
Go live in stages at one outlet outside peak hours before expanding.
Expected Outcomes
What the client can expect after delivery.
- A faster sale with fewer taps at peak time.
- Selling continues through a network outage, with synchronisation and no loss.
- Stock moving with every sale.
- Shift close with documented cash reconciliation and variances whose cause is understood.
- Sales reports by outlet, cashier, and item that operational decisions can rest on.

Integrations
The systems and channels this service can connect to.
- Central inventory systems, to move stock at the moment of sale.
- Accounting systems, for posting daily sales and collections.
- Payment gateways and bank card terminals.
- Online stores, where stock and pricing are shared.
- CRM systems for loyalty programmes or purchase history where adopted.
- Printers, cash drawers, and customer display screens.
Security and Governance
Security
- Every transaction tied to a specific user, not a shared outlet account.
- Discount, return, and void require permission and a recorded reason.
- Card data is not stored in the system; payment goes through the terminal or licensed gateway.
- An audit trail on every void or post-completion change.
- Synchronisation after offline operation is logged with its time and does not allow saved transactions to be edited.
Governance
- Discount and return policy approved in writing before being configured as a permission.
- The supervisor is responsible for shift close and cash reconciliation, not the cashier alone.
- Recurring cash variances are reviewed as an operational indicator rather than an individual case.
- Prices are managed centrally, and outlet-level changes are limited to a declared authority.
Human responsibility
What always stays a human decision in this service.
- Counting and reconciling cash at shift close is human work with declared responsibility.
- Accepting a return outside policy stays with the supervisor, with a written reason.
- Handling a customer dispute at the till needs immediate human intervention.
Use cases
Practical examples describing the type of situation, not named clients.
An Abu Dhabi retail outlet facing evening queues needs a screen that completes a sale in the fewest taps with fast barcode entry.
A branch chain selling from central stock needs daily sales by branch, cashier, and item.
A café needs the order sent to the kitchen and the customer receipt printed in the same transaction.
An outlet in a weak-connectivity location needs to keep selling through an outage, then synchronise every transaction without loss.

FAQ
Does the POS work without internet?
It must. We build the system to hold transactions locally through an outage and synchronise on reconnect. What needs connectivity is card payment through the terminal and instant central stock verification, and we define the system's behaviour in each case before go-live.
Do you sell POS hardware?
We do not represent any named hardware or product. We work on the system and its integration with the hardware the organisation chooses: screen, printer, cash drawer, scanner, and bank terminal. We help define the required specifications before purchase.
How are discounts controlled?
By permission and reason. Each discount type has a limit and a named authority, and the discount is recorded with who granted it and why. That turns a discount from an individual act into a reviewable decision, and reporting shows discount volume per cashier and outlet.
How is a shift reconciled at close?
The system calculates the expected amount per payment method: cash expected in the drawer, plus card and wallet totals. The supervisor enters the cash actually counted and the variance appears. Variances are recorded with their reason, and their recurrence is reviewed as an operational indicator rather than an individual case.
Can stock be shared between outlets and the online store?
Yes, and it requires naming the reference system for balance and the reservation rules. When selling from one pool we place a temporary reservation at the start of online checkout, to avoid selling the same unit in the outlet and on the site at the same moment.
